Paris

Paris the capital city of France. Driving in this city is challenging, which makes it all the more surprising that there is only 1 stop sign in the whole capital.

There are a great deal of must see places in Paris. When making your selection don’t miss out on: the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Champs-Elysees, and Le Sacre-Coeur.

The centre of Paris is divided into numbered arrondissements. The lower the number the more central it is located. Each of these areas has a wide selection of hotels to choose from.

The metro is the best mode of local transport and is often faster than taking a taxi due to the traffic congested streets.

Halal food is easiest to find in Barbes, because there is a large Algerian community there.

Insider tips: Paris is a lot smaller than you’d think, it’s best explored by foot. Make sure to bring along the right shoes.

Paris is an expensive city, however there are ways to save costs without compromising your experience. For example by getting a metro card for the entire stay.

Instead of climbing the Eiffel tower, try getting up the Arc de Triomphe (free entrance for any EU citizen up to 25) for a nice view of the Champs Elysees or the Montparnasse tower for a 360 degree view of the entire city. The steps by the Sacre-Couer also offer a must-see view. Avoid pricey restaurants like the ones found in the 1st and 2nd arrondissements and instead go to Saint-Michel or Opera. This will all save you time and money.

Rome

Rome is the capital city of Italy. It has a three thousand year history and a current population of nearly three million. Its art, culture and architecture has influenced the rest of the world.

Examples of this are Colosseum, the Rome Forum, Vatican City, Pantheon and the Spanish Steps.

The Pantheon was built some 2,000 years ago and is to this day still the largest un-reinforced concrete dome.

Metro and bus are the most convenient modes of transport

The best nightlife can be found near the Spanish steps, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain.

It’s not very easy to find halal food in Rome, however the Italians are quite skilled in the cuisine category so there are plenty of fish meals to choose from.

Insider tips:

Only buy entrance tickets for the Colosseum at the Roman Forums. This is both more efficient and cheaper.

Go to Vatican City by bus instead of by metro. This is not only cheaper it will also offer you some nice views of the city.
